Junior Enterprise Success
Six children from Year 4 took part in the Junior Enterprise Challenge at Eastbourne Town Hall on Monday 7th October. The children competed against other schools and learnt how to set up and run a small business.
Their challenge on the day was a variety of tasks around Eastbourne Carnival 2025 ‘Celebrations of the world’. The team created a fabulous carnival logo, designed advertising materials and a souvenir mask, wrote and presented a radio advert and then they had to present all of their amazing work to the judges including the Mayor.
We are delighted to say they won this exciting event and received a £10 book voucher each along with a trophy for school.
Well done to Isla-May, Noah, Bradley, Fraser, Sophia and Ronnie.
Harvest
Recently, children across the school celebrated Harvest. Children have been learning about Harvest in their classrooms and Years 1 to 6 came together to share this during special Harvest assemblies.
In Years 1 to 3, Year 1 entertained by singing the Dingle Dangle Scarecrow song whilst Kingfishers performed a Harvest poem and Nuthatches shared Harvest facts. Year 3 classes joined together to perform a Harvest poem.
In Years 4 to 6, Harvest songs were shared by Years 4 and 5 and Year 6 learnt about facts related to the Harvest of the sea and sustainable fishing.
Both assemblies were a lovely time to reflect on all the good food we have and to be thankful and grateful for it. There was also a Harvest display with all of the gifts donated to the food bank. Thank you to every family who gave a gift; we were overwhelmed with your generosity in wanting to support this worthy cause. When collected, the gifts filled 28 boxes! A big thank you also to the Food Bank who led assemblies on Monday with the children and explained what happens at a food bank and how the gifts are used to support our community.
Year 6 Trip to the Sealife Centre
Year 6 kick started their mini adventure Ocean Odyssey with a visit to Brighton Sealife Centre and Brighton beach. They took part in beach photography looking at landscape and pollution (brilliantly they couldn't find any litter on the beach!). They then enjoyed a workshop learning all about how to look after our seas and oceans and the little changes they could make every day to help. Finishing with a fantastic tour of the Sealife Centre, the children observed stingrays, sharks, jellyfish and more as well as handling shark eggs and walking through the glorious underwater tunnel!
Year 6 Safety in Action
Year 6 had a great afternoon recently when they visited Bushy Wood for the Safety in Action event. In small groups, they moved around different activities learning about a range of different scenarios including road safety, keeping safe on railways, electrical safety, what to do in the event of a fire in their home, first aid, countryside safety and water safety. They practised chest compressions, made a 999 emergency call, threw ropes to people who were struggling in water, learnt where to position a BBQ when in the countryside and much more!
A big thank you to all of the emergency services and volunteers who led the sessions - they were amazing! The children learnt so much useful information to keep themselves safe and as they move on to secondary school.
