Early Years Foundation Stage

In our Early Years Foundation Stage, learning is fun and creative and independence is encouraged. Children develop a secure foundation with the essential skills, knowledge and attitudes that prepare them for a smooth transition into Year One. Our staff facilitate this through shared experiences as well as positive relationships and partnerships with parents and carers.

We strive to provide good quality teaching and learning in an environment where everyone is cared for, valued and respected. We are committed to providing an appropriate curriculum which is broad, balanced and stimulating, enriched with learning experiences and opportunities, where each child will achieve personal excellence through effort, enthusiasm and enjoyment, our school vision. We provide opportunities for a mixture of children initiated and adult led learning as well as the direct teaching of reading, writing and maths every day.

Our learning is guided by the children’s interests and the topics develop and grow with the children. We develop curious, confident learners who ask questions, problem solve and show resilience in their learning.

Our learning environments include two classrooms, a shared indoor area and a newly refurbished garden! The children are able to choose the areas that they would like to learn in throughout the day. This enables them to play, engage, enquire, discover and reflect as they explore the world around them. Our children develop a love of learning and are self-assured learners. We focus on developing language acquisition and expanding children’s vocabulary knowledge. This provides children with the tools to become effective communicators and use language proficiently.
